A Travel Insider’s Guide to Universal Orlando’s Hollywood Rip Ride RockIt – Secret Menu Options

Universal Studios

Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida is the roller coaster lover’s dream come true with its Rip Ride RockIt musical roller coaster. A unique and well-designed track optimized for adrenaline meets an interactive song selection at this thrilling to ride roller coaster. With a 65-mph speed and 90-degree angle drops, it is not uncommon for this ride to experience long wait times. After all, did you really go to Universal Studios if you didn’t ride the Rip Ride RockIt at least once?

However, those who have experienced Universal Studio’s Rip Ride RockIt know that choosing a song among the plentiful options in six categories quickly is often difficult. Worse—if you fail to choose a song in time, the system automatically assigns a song as default for the rest of your ride experience. It is all too easy to not be fast enough on the draw when you have to also hop on a moving seat and buckle yourself in before you can make your selection. If you had endured a long wait time before this, you especially don’t want to be assigned a song that you did not choose.

Universal offers a solution that could help the savvy rider. For those with excellent memories, there is a secret menu option that will unlock songs not on the regular menu, giving you the perfect go-to right before you take off.

But how do you access the Rip Ride RockIt Secret Menu? That is where I can lend a hand.  Read on for some answers and my full list for all the available songs.

Unlocking the Secret Menu

When you are just about to take off on your next Rip Ride RockIt adventure, you may be tempted to scroll between the options in a panic, trying to select a good song before your time runs out. Not so fast. Now, you can easily unlock the secret song menu, giving you access to over 50 additional songs.

In order to quickly access this menu, instead of scrolling into each category and scanning through the songs, simply hold down on the Rip Ride RockIt logo at the top of the screen for several seconds. However, you will not immediately access the secret menu from here; instead, after pressing down on the logo, a numerical keypad should appear.

This is where your memory will serve its purpose. Rather than selecting from a list of songs, you will need to type in a three-digit code for a particular song of your choosing. Therefore, before going on the Rip Ride RockIt, you should already have an idea of which song that you would like to experience the roller coaster with and have memorized its specific code.

Typing in three random numbers will not work for this. For the full list of available secret codes see the list further down in this post. Only numbers from the following ranges can be inputted into the Rip Ride RockIt music system:

Once you enter one of these codes, just like in the regular music selection, you are locked in for the remainder of the ride. No need to rush to select the right category and song before your ride takes off; the keypad presents an easy solution to bypass this problem!

What to Choose?

Unfortunately, there are no genre categories to select from when inputting your code. This can be potentially difficult to some who are looking for their favorite music category to help them select a song, even if they have limited time to do so. That being said, the secret menu contains a wealth of different song options to choose from before your experience begins; there is bound to be one that will meet your interests.

Here are a few of my favorite songs that you can select that we find particularly fun for your time on this ride:

“Crocodile Rock” by Elton John (104)
This catchy, upbeat tune is guaranteed to set the perfect tone for your high-speed ride. You don’t have to be a lover of “oldies” music to appreciate timing of this song in conjunction with some of the ride’s most exciting climbs and falls.

“Immigrant Song” by Led Zeppelin (113)
If you are a Marvel fan, chances are that you can recognize the opening of this song in Thor: Ragnarok as it was featured in the intense action scene at the end of the film (no spoilers here!). It is no wonder, then, that this short and sweet song is our personal favorite for matching the adrenaline of the Rip Ride RockIt rollercoaster.

“Lose Yourself” by Eminem (306)
Want nostalgia from the 8 Mile soundtrack in your ears while riding this rollercoaster? This song is an amazing choice due to its natural buildup, the opening complementing the initial climb of the rollercoaster before the fast and sudden plunge. You’ll quickly find that this song will energize you and match your adrenaline rush so that you can fully tackle the ride’s fast drops and slow climbs.

“Moving Right Along” by The Muppets (901)
For a tongue-in-cheek, alternative song for your rollercoaster ride, choose to laugh along with Fozzie and Kermit of The Muppets. This song is perfect for those that want more of a light-hearted experience on the Rip Ride RockIt. Confuse your fellow ride mates by giggling instead of screaming to the ride’s biggest drops as you move right along!

Final Notes
As it can take up to ten seconds for the code input dialogue to pop up on the ride, those in the back may have more difficulty selecting a song before a default song is chosen. This is why it is crucial to board your seat already knowing your specific code and song that you want to accompany you on this thrilling adventure.

So, if you never want to get stuck with a default song ever again, simply memorize the code of the song of your choosing. This will allow you to pick the right song every time and be a part of the exclusive secret of the Universal Rip Ride RockIt rollercoaster. Keep in mind as well, if you want to capture a music video of your time on the rollercoaster, you can do so following the end of the ride.
